During lab class,
while i was forcing the glass pipette into the pipette pump,
the glass broke and i forced the broken glass pipette into my hand and scooped out some flesh.
i know this sounds gross.
but that's exactly what happened.
was so shocked at first when i saw a piece of flesh dangling off my hand.
it only register to me what just happened after like 10 seconds.
then i cried.
drama max.
my group members were like "OMGGGGGGG. Wtffff"
Rested at the first aid room while waiting for the school nurse to come.
The unit coordinator and lab technicians all came to ask me how i was feeling.
i couldn't stop tearing so i replied in the awkward crying voice while trying to breathe.
Please, next time just leave me alone =.=
The nurse came.
I was like " can you just give a a painkiller jab first?"
She said, "oh i will, but first i need to get your particulars.."
WHAT THE...... KILL ME seriously.
Blood was like oozing out and dripping all over the place.
the lab technicians kept changing the serviettes coz they were constantly being soaked with blood.
Security came. Drove us to the school clinic.
The doctor looked at my wound and said, " I cannot fix this, it's too complicated. You have to go to a plastic surgeon at the hospital."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
And that was after the delay of 3 hours in school.
Don't ask me why.
I have no freaking idea what everyone was doing.
Fine. Called Theodore to take me to the hospital.
He was sleeping then coz he did his essay till 4am but still flew down to school.
Thanks buddy :)
Went to the reception and told them that i was referred by the school doctor to get my hand stitched up.
The lady said "You HAVE to go to the emergency department right now"
When i went there, i waited for like......1.5 hours.
Erm, """EMERGENCY""?
A lady had a mini heart attack but i went in before her.
So i reckon there was still a wee bit of emergency in this.
haha.
okay. then hell started.
The plastic surgeon examined my wound and said it was too deep so i had to do an x-ray to see if there were any glass pieces left in the wound.
And yeah, there were.
I had like 5 local anaesthetic jabs at different areas of my hand.
But i could still feel the pain of them digging out the glass pieces, pushing the flesh back in etc.
Of all the days and all the people,
I have to get a practicing student that day.
The plastic surgeon was taking his time to teach the practicing student while doing the stitches.
And there was a time when i could feel where they were stitching but felt pain at another area.
So I turned slightly to take a peep of what was going on.
I saw the other side of my hand with the dangling flesh being caught under the surgical cloth.
Omg.
Put me to sleep already.
Oh well. The nurse was nice at least.
She gave me a 20cm cotton pad for me to cry on.
It's that bad.
I wasn't like making the drama crying noises but tears just kept falling down.
Guys, it's an involuntary reflex okay.
And she said to me " at least when you feel pain, you know that you're alive."
True that.
At the end of the surgery,
i thought it was over but nope.
One more tetanus jab D:
The the doctor left and the nurse came in.
She saw my dressing and said, "That's the wrong dressing and why did the doctor not clean up all the blood on your hand??"
I said, "oh, i thought i was suppose to do it myself.."
She said, "No, he's suppose to clean it for you".
She is a really experienced nurse so she went out to like "scold" the doctor.
Haha.
That was pretty funny.
Now that the anaesthetic has worn off,
I can feel the real pain kicking in :(
Was typing this super long post with only my right hand,
Appreciate this people.
Wish me speedy recovery.
PS: no pictures coz that might just scare my readers away.
