Some vets are absolutely horrible.
It's either they have been in this profession for a really long time hence becoming too complacent or they themselves weren't good vets in the first place to begin with.
An animal presented with a profusely bleeding wound.
Not treating the wound itself but just dispensing painkillers and antibiotic and expecting the carers to take it from there.
You NEED to treat the bleeding wound!!!
It's may sound like a really common sense thing but trust me,
there are still vets out there who are just not getting it or are not willing to do it.
And if you try saying something, they will say that you are exaggerating the whole situation.
Come on, you don't need any thousand dollar equipment to diagnose the severity of such injury.
Use your own eyes and you can tell that the animal is NOT okay.
How about when you come to me with an injury, I just tell you that I'll come back tomorrow to treat the wound coz my shift for the day is over. Here is some antibiotics and panadol. Bye!
That's exactly the kind of treatment the animal got.
You're a vet, I'm just a year one student.
I bet the knowledge that you acquire during your whole vet school life and your working experiences all adds up to more than just that, you can do better than this.
You don't need to be a crazy animal lover, you just need to have the basic compassion for a living being to actually feel for the animal. What more, you're a qualified vet working in such a big organisation.
Well, I can only say that there are people in this world who take shortcuts in expense of the animal's welfare.
For all the other people around who are watching,
some will voice out and be the bad cop, some will stay silent to safeguard their position in the field and relationship with other people ie the vets by not questioning too much.
Some vets don't mind giving away free services and products while some vets will not lay a finger on a dying animal until he/she gets an approved estimate from the client.
That's the difference and that's the ugly truth.
